Torture Victim Interview

July 16th, 2009

There’s a new interview with one of our torture victim members posted on the main PTSD website.

If you have a story to tell about living with PTSD – either suffering from the disorder, or living with someone who does – we would like to hear about it.

Relating lived experiences helps to break down the stigma of PTSD, and also helps people understand it. That can lead to earlier diagnosis, treatment, and the return of some quality of life.

Next Meeting

July 6th, 2009

The next Picking up the Peaces meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday July 21 at the Vietnam Veterans Federation, 3 Burkitt St, Page.

Among reports will be updates on meetings with executives from Australian Federal Police and Australian Defence Force Mental Health, the Australian Mental Health Convention in Perth, and preparations for the evidence-based needs assessment surveys required to underpin our approach.

Our primary project at this stage is the 2nd annual National PTSD Day, scheduled for the afternoon of 10 October 2009. Planning is under way and key speakers have already indicated a willingness to participate.

If you’d like to help, your input would be most welcome! Contact Kate at info@pickingupthepeaces.org.au or 0410 900 433
