Hello,
My name is Tracey Hibbert & I am a 46 year old Registered Nurse.
I have been throught the trauma of being stabbed in the chest whilst working in Sydney as a registered nurse many years ago. I’ve been down the PTSD path… and now use my traumatic experience to help others understand PTSD. From time to time I’ve been approached to speak to individuals & community groups on my experience of PTSD. In particular, I’ve spoken to many nursing students on PTSD.This seems to be an area of nursing education that is sadly lacking. I’ve also spoken to young offenders of crime, in an attempt to make them understand the lifelong implications that some of their criminal activities can have on someone. I am always available for a “chat” to sufferes of a traumatic event throughout my local area. Even though I’m an RN, I don’t offer psychological therapy… such as a psychologist might. I find people are keen to discuss their unique PTSD situation with a health professional that has “been in their PTSD shoes”. I also speak with family/ friends/& co-workers of people with PTSD. I could never return to full-time general nursing after my attack… but I have been putting my nursing knowledge in conjunction with my PTSD experience to good use. I would like to be of assistance to as many people as possible in my goals to raise PTSD awareness. If I can be of any assistance to you in any capacity, please contact me:

PS. I am a SURVIVOR of crime …not a “victim of crime” ! The difference is HUGE!
Regards,
Tracey
